A Michigan month-to-month rental agreement is a short-term lease agreement that can be amended or terminated with at least thirty (30) days’ written notice. It has no formal end date. This type of agreement between a landlord and tenant is also known as a “tenancy-at-will”. Although the commitment is much shorter than a traditional lease, it’s still wise for landlords to run background checks on all tenant applicants. They can use rental applications to gather the information they need for the background checks.
The termination of a tenancy-at-will in Michigan requires at least thirty (30) days’ written notice from either party.
